Taking the Plunge

Starting something new can be really hard. Whether it’s beginning therapy, joining a group, trying something unfamiliar, starting a business, or even just writing this blog post — it’s easy to put it off.

Often, it’s not that we don’t want to do the thing. It’s that the thing feels too big. Too unfamiliar. Too exposing. So we wait until we feel more ready, more confident, or more “together.”

But here’s the thing: sometimes we never feel completely ready.
And that’s okay.

As a Speech Pathologist, I’ve seen and experienced how powerful it is to have someone in your corner when things feel hard. Someone who understands that communication doesn’t look the same for everyone, and that progress rarely ever follow a straight line.

For some of the people I work with, that first step might be saying a sound they’ve avoided, or picking up a book and giving it a go despite the amount of effort it takes. For others, it might be asking for help, joining a conversation, exploring a new way of expressing themself, or just showing up and being seen as they are — without pressure to mask or perform.

In a world that often asks neurodivergent people to change who they are to fit in, my goal is to create a space where they don’t have to. Where communication goals are about connection, not conformity.

So if you or your child are standing on the edge of something new — something that feels a bit scary or uncertain — you don’t have to do it alone.

Sometimes having someone beside you is the thing that makes the leap feel possible.
That’s what I’m here for.

Start small.
Take the plunge.
I’ll be here when you’re ready — and we’ll take the plunge together.
